What Causes Delayed Periods?

hi doc , i had my LMP on 15th may and was expecting it around same time in june.i dint get periods untill 23rd then i got a pregnancy test and it was negative.my doc prescribed modus10mg (i was advised for 5 days but in 2 days time only i got my periods) and . i am 25yrs and married,now my periods started on 25th june as lasting till date(2 july) what cud this be?
