What Causes Deranged TLC Count In A Person With Skin Infection?

My father s age is 70+. He is suffering with some skin infection and is being treated. TLC is around 22k.what is the reason? Now doctors have different opinions. One doctor says patients is required to be admitted. Other says no need to worry TLC is due to infection in blood. once infection is cured TLC will come down. Total confused ,which advise need to follow.
