What Causes Diarrhea And Abdominal Pain?

my sister has been having episodes of diarrhea and severe abdominal pains off and on for weeks now. she is getting nowhere with here doctor. I told her to see a gastroenterologist. Would this be a probable course to take? she is really frustrated. Thank you, Robin Du
