What Causes Diarrhea And Purple Lips In A Kid?

My 8 month old baby started vomiting yesterday. Called the doctor and started the baby on Pedialyte and smaller amounts of formula. He has had 3 bouts of diarrhea today, but no vomiting. However, I noticed tonight at bedtime that his lips are purple. Does this mean he is dehydrated or is this more serious?
