What Causes Difficulty In Speech?

I am a speech therapist and just evaluated a child whose uvula deviates to the right. Should I have any concerns about CN 9 dysfunction, or can this child be typically functioning without any CN damage? Mind you, his tongue movement and strength are also reduced.
