What Causes Difficulty In Swallowing Post Cervical Building?

My mom has a cervical building on c6 +c7 The hospital sent her home with Percocet, Norfolk, steroids. She a mild difficulty with swallowing. I'm a nursing student I told her if the swallowing gets worse to go back to prevent airway occlusion. But for now will cool compresses and Advil help?
