What Causes Difficulty In Swallowing?

I just had a minor surgery but they put a breathing tube in. It's been 4 days and my actual surgery site feels better but my throat hurts so bad I can't eat or even just swallow. My whole throat neck and upper chest feels sore from me being tense and not wanting to move my mouth or tongue. Is this normal to be this bad? What can I do to help?
