What Causes Discoloration Along With Lump On Ankle?

I "think " i sprained my ankle a couple weeks ago. It was black and blue and there was a lump on it. I wrapped it up in an ace bandage which helped alot. Now it still hurts and there is like a little nodgle thing thats very painful to touch sticking out. Do i need to go to the doc or can i heal it myself?
