What Causes Dry Painful Spots On The Feet And Toe?

i have a small dry spot on one of my feet it also dark around the dry skin. On my other foot I also have a dry patch on my big toe. It goes from the top of my toe all the way in between my toe. I have pain on the dry area and it itches alot. what could it be?
