What Causes Dry Skin?

i am having a problem all my skin all over my body its getting very dry even soon after i apply my daily lotion no change what may cause ? (2) i used combi pessary and cream prescibed by my doctor,after 2 days i dicovered round black acne on my bottom they are not itchy so i worried wht may it be?
