What Causes Dryness And Itching In Throat?

Hi- I've had scratchy, dry throat for over one week with sore throat pain. This started approximately after I developed bad pink eye infection in both eyes on Xmas day which was treated with steroid drops. Swelling gone down but still some itching and irritation there. In addition, I' ve got what I think is nasal impetigo in one nostril- same side as most throat pain which I think is one-sided.
My doc on extended vacation so I've been trying to help myself but nothing seems to help. Also have dry, unproductive cough. What do you recommend? Thank you.p.S. I'm 63- year old female usually in excellent health
