What Causes Dryness And Pain In The Toe?

my husband had two toes amputated on nov 17 and debrides on dec 10

and the wound vac where working but nothing came out it was dry and yesterday the supend the vacuum and prescribe an ointment another toe look almos dry and black and is painful inthat area how can i help him
