What Causes Ear Area Pain On Head Rotation?

Not often, but once in a while when I turn my head quickly either to right or left, I get a very short, sharp pain right above my ear. I'm 60 years old with no history of high blood pressure. I'm in great health, slim, and work out 3 times a week. I've had this occurrence for as long as I can remember as an adult. Any ideas? Thank you!
