What Causes Ear Bleeding Post Dewaxing?

Hi I took my 11 year old daughter to the doctor today the doctor cleaned and removed the wax in her right ear he said there was a lot of build up and also an ear infection we got home and put a cotton ball in her ear and there is now a couple of drops of blood. Is that normal?
