What Causes Ear Discharge?

it feels like I have either water in my ear, or an ear infection. I was diagnosed with tonsillitis and an ear infection 3 weeks ago. Today my ear started feeling the same way. When she diagnosed me, she said she couldn't see my ear drum. She put me on amoxicillan and it popped a couple days later and fluid came out.
