What Causes Ear Infection With Bleeding?

I went into urgent care for what I thought was an ear infection. It turns out it isn't infected, but the Nurse said that there is a large amount of blood on my eardrum. She told me to make an appt with my primary doctor asap. She said it didn't look ruptured, so what could have caused this?
