What Causes Ear Pain After An Accident?

I have a lot of inner ear pain from my auto accident on Sunday evening, my doctor did not look in my ear just sent me for x-rays and a CT scan and said he would get back with me also gave me 800mg ibuprofen but still have a lot of pain in the ear. Is it possible something happened with my ear drum? What else can I do for the pain, it hurts on the right side even when I talk or try to eat
