What Causes Earache And Sore Throat With History Of Epstein-barr Viral Syndrome?

I was diagnosed with Epstein-Barr Viral Syndrome about 25 years ago and have suffered with chronic fatigue since. Beginning approximately 3 weeks ago I developed a low grade fever, headache, sore throat, gland swelling, and earache. My doctor put me on Zithromax last week and it has not touched the sorethroat or earache. Is it possible that I have mono again. I plan to call my doctor back tomorrow but don't want to be self diagnosing. Don't get to see my doctor very often, mainly the Nurse Practioner. Is there anything that I can do.
