What Causes Earache, Sore Throat And Lumps On Roof Of Mouth?

I've had a slight earache for around 7 weeks now following a nasty flu virus, it's better for a few days then comes back with a sore throat, lumps on roof of mouth and at back of throat. Generally feel quite unwell. I've been to my GP several times about it and just told its a virus, antibiotics won't work etc. am fed up of it now !
