What Causes Early Menstrual Cycle?

Hey, so this morning when I went to pee it hurt really bad and it was a little bloody. Naturally I assumed it was a UTI by the pinkish color and then burning/sting. but when I went to the bathroom after school I noticed I had started my period a week early also today. What does this mean??
