What Causes Elevated Blood Pressure?

My grand daughter is 21 years ....here blood pressure won't even register when she takes it.....been like this for a good month...she has a doctors appointment thursday afternoon ...but should she wait that long...she is stubborn and won't go to the ER>>>I am worried!
