What Causes Elevated Liver Enzyme Levels?

Hi, I just wanted to find out more about elevated liver enzymes. My husband had blood test results recently that showed elevated liver enzymes. Prior to the blood work he had, he was experiencing symptoms of weight loss with decreased or no appetite, stomach burning when he did eat, fatigue, diarrhea, and fatigue. He had a colonoscopy recently that revealed diverculosis and he has an umbilical hernia also. I guess I am just wondering if maybe those diagnoses would lead to elevated liver enzymes.
