What Causes Enlarged Papillae On The Tongue?

I have noticed that my tongue papillae are enlarged towards the base of the tongue. I'm assuming that they would be the circumvillate papillae. Could a sore throat be the cause of this? I have had a sinus headache and post nasal drip for the past 4 days.
