What Causes Enlarged Spleen In A Child?

My 11 year old had an ultrasound on her abdominal area today. This is 4 weeks after she was diagnosed with Mono. She is a gymnast so the doctor was extremely concerned about her spleen still being enlarged. During the ultrasound her spleen measured around 13. Is this normal??
