What Causes Entire Body Swelling?

My entire body is swollen. My eye lids are almost swelled shut and I had to pry my ring off my finger. I've been asking my doctor to send me to an allergist, but have received no response. I treat myself w/ 50mg. go benedryl every 4-6 hours and get some relief after my second dose. Does this sound like an allergy to you? I appreciate your comment.
