What Causes Excess Thirst And Bitterness In Mouth?

I just got over some sort of bug lasting for about 3 days I had a bad case of the runs for those few days. though I am constantly drinking water, my mouth is bitter and excessively dry. Why is this still the case now that I am almost back to normal?
