What Causes Excessive Aggressiveness?

my mother is in what I believe is mid stage of this terrible disorder. She doesn t act like my mother always has. She is very aggressive, throws things, screams at my father and I , and will not take her meds. We are really worried about what to do about this. I am beginning to worry about her hurting my dad. Any thoughts on this would be appreciated.
