What Causes Excessive Flatulence Along With Rectal Discharge?

I just had a bout of excessive flatulence and rectal discharge. It felt like diarrhea but only a small amount of fecal matter was produced. I think I may had slightly undercooked chicken. Just to be sure, is there anything else that can cause this? This is the first time its ever happened to me.
