What Causes Extreme Pain Under Ribs?

I am 33 and obese. About a year ago while pregnant I ended up in the hospital with extreme pain under my rib on the right side and to the back. They did find a kidney stone that was of inconsiquintal size and a cyst on my adrenal gland that had not been viewed on a previous scan a few years before and with what had appeared as rapid growth. Blood and urine test came back clear of cancer and I haven't given t more thought. Last week I had a large bursting sensation in approximately the same region, pressure (discomfort), and stabbing-hooting pain with position. I also have had relief by hollding my breath and trying to keep my diaphram inflated/ expanded. Could my cyst have ruptured? Should I be concerned? I am still having discomfort.
