What Causes Extreme Thirst?

A couple of days ago I randomly just got extremely thirsty and I still am [5 days]. I have never drank so much water in my life [or peed so much!]. Right after I drink water, it becomes instantly dry again. I bought Biotene mouth wash and it hasn't seemed to help much. It's a huge discomfort because I cannot have liquids at my job.
