What Causes Feeling Of Hole In Back While Treating COPD And CKD?

My mother is 86 & has COPD, Asthma, CKD, High Blood Pressure. She was in the hospital last month with pneumonia, she has been home 3 weeks & is still in pain. She says it feels like she has a hole in her back. She isn't eating or drinking much now. Can you please give me some idea what could be wrong?
