What Causes Feeling Of Lump In Throat With Yellow Puss On Tonsil?

Hi I have for the past 6 months had problems with my throat. It feeld like there is a lump but no pain its not there at night but only when i am awake it also goes when i drink alcohol. Today i noticed yellow puss on the tonsil (not a tnsil stone as i have had these before)
can you shed any light?
