What Causes Fever And Purple Bruise On Upper Lip?

A couple days ago I noticed a purple bruise on my sons upper lip it is now turning a light red and he has been running a fever of 101 for the past day? What could this be should I be concerned. He does have a habit of licking his lower lip but haven t noticed him licking his upper lip
