What Causes Fever And Vomiting Along With Elevated WBC Levels In An Infant?
My 14 month granddaughter, my daughter (22 years old) both got sick on 4/4/15 first the baby was throwing up & my daughter seemed fine. That evening we took the baby to the ER and though she was Dehydrated from throwing up everything all her blood work came back normal except a high white cell count. After giving her fluids & Zophan IV she was released. My daughter became ill shortly after getting home & took herself to the ER with throwing up---same blood work everything okay except Dehydrated & alittle high white cell count, and she was also given fluids IV with Zophan & released. I got sick with the same but not until early morning hours of 4/14/15. I did not go to the ER. The symstoms were no fever, throwing up and the only one to really have any diaherra was the baby which was not bad or severe, the higher white cell count was shared with my daughter & granddaughter. We all are feeling a better however none of us feel like eating much but all are drinking good fluids. The baby is still throwing up just once in a while (not like before) which has my daughter worried. My daughter thinks that it is not a virus she believes that it might have been salmonella poisoning from a toad that was in our back yard that we all touched...even though we all did wash our hand after wards. I still think this is just one of the many viruses going around & the baby s system is still trying to adjust from being sick. My daughter wants to take her back to the ER & I am trying to tell her to wait until Monday for an appointment with her regular doctor. What she should do?
