What Causes Flaking Of Vaginal Skin?

hi, please help i have a problem in my vaginal hair, I noticed that in the root portion of the hair has a white something ( i don't know what can call it) but I guess a flake. I removed it with finger nails coz its itchy..before one portion is affected with white flakes and when I removed the white "flake" I feel good. The problem is even I do removing it everyday, the next day there's a lot again.. And in doing it regularly sometimes the vaginal scalp get red and I feel hurt. Please advise what d I need to do.
