What Causes Flesh Like Vaginal Discharge Post Depo Injection?

I take the DEPO shot for birth control. I have been on it for almost a month now and have just now gotten my period. When I went to the restroom I noticed something strange on my sanitary and it looked like a piece of bloody skin. It was fatty and slimy and covered in blood. I have found two of them since then. Is this normal?
