What Causes Fluid Retention In Ears?

I feel as if there is water in my right ear though I haven t been swimming and this has lasted for a few days now, off and on. A few weeks ago, there was one day when I felt very uncomfortable in my right ear and thought it might be due to headphones but only my left headphone was working at the time, so I disregarded the thought. The feeling is less intense now but present more often and I m not sure what s going on... Listening to music or talking on the phone in my right ear, everything sounds a bit more robotic. For a brief period of time I felt as if I couldn t hear out of my right ear and performed my own hearing test--i was not able to hear a phone ring.
