What Causes Formation Of Itchy Callous On Feet?

I have a spot on the side of my foot by the arch about the size of a pencil eraser. Its been there for about 3 weeks and started out as what looked like an ant bite and has gradually gotten larger. Its gotten somewhat hard like a callous and it itches a lot. I am just wondering what it could be.
