What Causes Foul Smelling Urination?

I recently noticed a powerful smell of smoke coming from my urine. While almost amusing, it s also concerning me that my biochemistry is evidently altered. Upon googling this, I found others saying coffee drinking though not a regular coffee drinker.... or recent menses .....were linked to their experience......and both apply to me as well! So now I know it may be linked to monthly hormone changes and perhaps some coffee detoxification pathway......which is grand and all, but it still doesn t tell me if there is an originating possible cause that might be a bad thing. Is this a harmless quirk of personal biochemistry? Or a warning sign that could indicate an underlying disease?
