What Causes Freckle Like Spots On Chest, Arm And Hand?

Hi. I am age 40 & 5ft4ins and have brown skin. In January I noticed white freckle like spots appeared over my chest which have then turned brown. They seem to be spreading as I now have quite a few on my arms and hand which have started to turn brown. I have an appointment with my GP in 2 days time but in the meantime I have looked up my symptoms and think it could be TINEA VERSICOLOR. I would be grateful for your thoughts. AMM
