What Causes Frequent Eruption Of Boils On Buttocks?

Hi, my friend gets boils on his buttocks. Boils are pretty hard, and big, and painful. Not sure what they're exactly, and why they happen. But he says it's been happening for around 10 yrs now, every month. Could you please tell what it could be?
