What Causes Frequent Loss Of My Toe Nails?

about 3 years ago,i lost both of my big toenails.because i kept dropping drawers on them at work.{i havent worked there for about 2 1/2 years now}they had grown back,but now they have just died for no reason..and my thumb nail has done the same thing..can u tell me why?
