What Causes Gagging Sensation While Eating Despite Being Diagnosed With Sinus Infection?

my daughter is a paraplegic, from the t3 down. she has had some type of sinus infection and is on a zpack. tonight when she asked me to look at her throat , I can see what I think must be her epiglottis standing up. she is experiencing no problem breathing or drinking but she tried a small bite of food and said it made her gag. should I take her to the ER or wait until morning to get her to her regular doctor?
