What Causes Gain In Weight Having A Polyp On The Uterus?

I was just told by my OBGYN that I have a polyp that is the size of a grapefruit on my uterus....I feel bloated and have heavy menstrual cycles...could this cause weight gain? I'm very active and notices I can't loose a pound the past month or so...should I be concerned?
