What Causes Grinding Sound And Pain In The Knee?

Hello, I have pain in the upper portion of my patellar tendon on my left knee. This is also associated with a grinding sound and feeling when standing from a seated position and/or ascending stairs. Do you have an idea what this may be? Thank you for your time.
