What Causes Hair Loss While Having Synthroid?

I am currently taking 0.75 of synthroid. I am being changed to .125mg daily. My hair loss is excessive and I am very concerned that increasing may cause more or cause weight gain. Should I be concerned? I have been taking 0.75mg for more than 15 years. Thank you
