What Causes Hair Thinning And Bump On Forehead?

I have noticed a distinct thinning of hair in the last month, which in and of itself, is no big deal as I'm in my early fifties. But I have also noticed a pronounced bump underneath the skin, on my forehead slightly below my hairline. The bump is recent although I cannot say exactly when it showed up. I am estimating within the last few days.
