What Causes Hard Areas On Abdomen And Lower Back After Liposuction?

I had liposuction 3 weeks ago. The swelling has considerably decreased, but I do have hard areas on my abdomen, oblique area and lower back. I know this is likely due to fibrosis. My surgeon instructed me to massage these areas. I have steam in my bathroom and was wondering if I can steam to loosen up my tissues with the heat, and then massage those areas?
