What Causes Hardness In Area Of Boil Excision?

I had a boil lanced on my thigh a week and a half ago. The area is still hard. I was prescribed Bactrim and I am almost finished with it. The area is not painful like it was before and the place that was lanced has closed up. Should it still be hard.
