What Causes Hardness In Skin After Wound Got Healed?

i've got a wound that had gotten infected but got antibiotics and now it's scabbed up and already chipping away by itself. there's no more warmth in the skin around, but it's hard. like a bump a few inches up from the original wound. is that normal? scar tissue?
